Well known for being an internationally recognized vacation spot, particularly among foreign skiers on holiday, Niseko, Japan will be the sight of a luxury resort scheduled for completion in 2010. Annupuri Land L.P. and Capella Hotels and Resorts have confirmed they are to develop the Capella Niseko, a luxury hotel and condominium resort on 32 acres area near Annupuri-Niseko Mountain in Hokkaido, the most northern major island in Japan.
Internationally renowned architect Tadao Ando will design Capella Niseko, which will be managed as Capella Hotels and Ando Resorts.
Set on 32 acres which includes a stream, hot springs, and gorgeous views of the valley below, Capella Niseko features a luxurious 80-room resort. Each room will come equipped with a private natural hot spring bath and guests will have access to fine dinning in the restaurant, ice skating, and swimming among other activities. Nearby a 150 unit residence will be built, including condominiums and villas featuring stone fireplaces and outdoor hot springs.
The cost of the development is expected to be somewhere in the neighborhood of \20,000,000,000. Capella Hotels and Ando Resort, who are managing Capella Niseko, are working in cooperation with West Paces Hotel Group.
Tadao Ando was quoted in the Hokkaidao Shimbun newspaper as saying he would like to create a luxury resort which preserves the natural beauty of the Niseko area.
